Packing problems
Article Abstract:
Operational research techniques can be used to help solve a range of packing and storage challenges, such as loading of pallets, and positioning. Practical solutions are sought to a variety of problems, including those posed by two dimensional rectangular products, two dimensional bin-packing, strip packing, and three dimensional packing. Non-rectangular packing issues are also examined. Opportunities and needs exist for more invetigation of packing issues, such as applications of intelligent heuristic methodology.
