Paribas embarks on campaign to a better image
Article Abstract:
Paribas SA has embarked on a three-year advertising campaign to improve its image deficit in particular regions in Europe and the world over. The France-based investment bank has set aside 30 million francs, or $5.4 million, in 1998 to purchase advertising space in magazines and newspapers across the globe under the first two phases of its image-enhancement initiative. Through the second half of October 1998, Paribas provided an explanation of its earnings for the first half of 1998 by releasing full-page ads in French dailies, The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times. In addition, Paribas Chairman Levy-Lang set up interviews with the French media to reassure investors that the company is not in trouble.

Monsanto ads promote genetically altered crops
Article Abstract:
Monsanto Co., a major biotechnology firm in the US, plans to launch in summer 1998 an approximately-$5-million advertising campaign to promote genetically-engineered crops in newspapers in France and the United Kingdom. In a move seen as risky and unusual for Monsanto, the biotechnology firm's advertisements are aimed at erasing the mistrust for genetic crop engineering of consumers in Europe. Monsanto's ads will promote the benefits offered by genetically-engineered crops, such as naturally-colored cotton and higher-yielding crops.
