Article Abstract:
President Kim Young Sam of Korea may have sparked a revolt with his plans to fire Kim Jong Pil, chairman of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party. The two Kims have a history of contention, and Kim Jong Pil threatens to form a new party. That could hurt the DLP in upcoming elections, especially in the populous Chungchong region. Kim Young Sam wants to distance himself from former military regimes with which the former general Kim Jong Pil is firmly associated.
