Pep talks in Taipei
Article Abstract:
Recession is looming in Taiwan as the economy contracted 2.35% in the second quarter, and further contractions are expected for the third quarter, with the GDP likely to contract 0.37% this year. Problems have arisen due to the decrease in U.S. demand for electronic items, bad loans at domestic banks, and the scaling back of inventories at many of the island's companies.
