Perception and information in a competitive location model
Article Abstract:
Competition between business enterprises for owning facilities in strategic locations is studied. Both players in the competitive game are assumed to have the same information and perception about the game regarding each one's strategy and the results or consequences of each strategy. In games with incomplete information, one party has the edge over the other. In hypergame, both parties have different views of the game. Competition would now be between each enterprise' pricing and customer service policies, as viewed by the clients.

The SIMAN micro-simulation code was employed to model the influence of information on commuters' behavior during morning traffic congestion. The model, which is based on a survey conducted among drivers in Tel Aviv, Israel and Gothenburg, Sweden, characterized average trip duration, queueing time, trip length, level of congestion relief and the drivers' responses to partial information, perfect information and the absence of road traffic information.
