Pilgrims' progress
Article Abstract:
China's Christian artists are beginning to develop a body of art that is both truly Christian and completely Chinese. They seem to be strongly apolitical, unlike their predecessors, and feel that the Christian message acts as a strong driving force for the development of clearly Chinese ways of expressing Christianity. They are seeking to use Chinese art forms, and wish to embed these in a Chinese context that makes open reference to Chinese life. However, many ordinary Chinese Christians have rather mixed views about their work.

Diminishing returns
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong is routinely touted as a paragon of free market capitalism yet key areas of its economy remain regulated by the government. A system of monopolies and protected sectors in services, professions and utilities that once had a crucial role in Hong Kong's history no longer make sense in an increasingly competitive global economy. The colony's traditional advantages have declined and it can no longer afford to protect certain professions and markets if it is to remain an attractive business center and export base.
