Playing the waiting game
Article Abstract:
Companies that become the target of a merger or acquisition bid should seek to benefit from the fact that they are clearly wanted by the potential purchaser or merger partner. It is important to be seen to be proactive in preparing for the changes which will inevitably follow a merger or acquisition. Attempts must be made to retain staff, but it is not wise to deny that redundancies will take place, as downsizing is a very common consequence of a change of ownership.
