Poland considers Mi-24 upgrade
Article Abstract:
The Defense Ministry of Poland is in the process of accelerating its evaluation of the country's options for attack helicopters in an effort to meet NATO interoperability as well as its future air-mobile requirements. Poland, which has approved the acquisition of as many as 30 attack helicopters, has an inventory of 46 Mil Mi-24 attack helicopters. Despite the impending purchase, however, a life extension upgrade on the existing MI-24s will still be needed in order to extend their service lives to until 2015.

New fire-fighting tank
Article Abstract:
PZL-Swidnik developed a new belly-mounted helicopter fire-fighting tank for the Sokol helicopter. The expandable tank, which can hold 1,500 liters or 396 gallons, provides such features as poly-fibre based concertina sides, with the base of the tank held against the upper section by a number of internal springs. The tank's doors are mechanically operated and an automatic cutoff switch activates when the tank is already full.
