Private firms and entrepreneurial economics are fueling the growth of business in post-communist Poland. The share in industrial output of private firms has increased from 16% in 1990 to 45% in 1995. Analysts see potential problems in the way labor and production are handled.

The Catholic church was able to stop AIDS awareness campaigns in Poland. Consequently, the number of HIV infections may now be as high as 100,000. Eight children infected with HIV are being persecuted by ignorant communities.
