Erotic material was found in excavations at Pompeii, and much of this was stored in Naples, Italy, away from public eyes. The public is to eb allowed to view the material, which is above the standards of modern porn. The phallus is ubiquitous as a talisman. European courts have tended to send objects to Naples that they saw as too obscene, so secret rooms in Naples came to be seen as a collecting center for pornography, and there may be such secret rooms elsewhere in Italian museums.
