Portable CD players handle slopes with more grace than a reporter
Article Abstract:
Two compact disc players were 'torture-tested' to prove the products' ability to continuously play music despite shocks. The Sony D-465 Discman and the Sharp MD-MS100X disc players were taken on a snowboarding tests and showed that the Sony Discman could withstand only 20 seconds of shocks before being interrupted in its music delivery. Both systems rely on random access memory to store music information as it is being read by laser, which allows for continuous music delivery even as the laser reading is disrupted for a few seconds.

Like the Democrats, but lack citizenship? Aid the campaign, virtually, on the Web
Article Abstract:
Non-US citizens who want to support Democratic Party candidate Pres. Bill Clinton can do so through the Democratic National Committee's World Wide Web site. The site enables foreign Democrat supporters to make campaign contributions through their credit cards which automatically qualifies them for membership to the committee. However, on-line donations from foreigners have raised issues concerning the legality of the practice as it applies to fund-raising and membership recruitment.
