Coming in from the cold
Article Abstract:
Governments in the Nordic region have raised more than $21 billion from asset sales in the period since the late 1980s. In 1998, the most significant deals were the $1.39 billion offering from Finnish telecommunications concern Sonera and Norway's public offer of 16% of Christiana Bank. Those interested in privatization opportunities in the Nordic region have been looking particularly at the oil and gas sector, which is clearly in urgent need of private management.
