Europe's open future
Article Abstract:
There is growing support in the European Community to allow for the membership of Eastern European countries. Many of those countries also wish to join NATO. The growth of the EC would affect Europe's relationships with the US and Japan.

The European Union is often held to hostage by national self-interest and the nationalist use of vetoes in major policy areas. Federalists believe that an expanded EU can only work if majority voting is applied to more decisions.
