Singapore defends payouts

Texmaco is accused of incorrect data on an asset sale

Texmaco Group founder Marimutu Sinivasan is accused by MFC Bancorp Ltd. President Michael Smith of giving misleading information to the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA). Under investigation is the sale of Texmaco's stake in Germany's Trevira GmbH to DB Investor, a unit of Deutsche Bank AG, for which funds of over $61 million are missing and purportedly in the hands of Sinivasan. The IBRA's ability to handle the restructuring of the Texmaco Group is called into question due to the influence of Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid.
