Ameritech to buy 20% of Bell Canada

Ameritech Corp. is planning to acquire a 20% share of Bell Canada. Bell Canada is a unit of BCE Inc. The acquisition price will be approximately C$5.1 billion (US$3.38 billion). The deal would be part of a strategic partnership between Ameritech and BCE, which will own approximately 42% of merged entity. BCE stated that it proceeds raised from the deal would be used primarily to invest in high-growth sectors.
