Private-equity firms consider bid for Ahold's U.S. Foodservice unit

Koninklijke Ahold N.V. will sell its U.S. Foodservice unit to a private equity investment group for $7.1 bil. The unit is currently involved in an accounting investigation launched in 2003. The investment group, which is comprised of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. and Clayton, Dubilier and Rice Inc., did not disclose how much assumption of debt is reflected in the deal price.
