Processed foods, confectionery and bakery products in Italy
Article Abstract:
In 1995, Italian food consumption totalled 180,109 billion Lire, representing 16% of total consumer spending. Spending on beverages totalled 1.4% of consumer spending. Sectors which have suffered a decline include preserved fish and meats, confectionery, and industrial bakery products; while preserved fruit and vegetables have enjoyed steady growth along with frozen food and sugar confectionery. An overview of the processed foods, confectionery and bakery product sectors in Italy is given.

Processed foods, confectionery and bakery products in Germany
Article Abstract:
In 1996, German food and drink production rose 1.3% to 223.6 billion Deutsche Marks, however, employment fell 1% to 518,000. Increased sales were reported for fresh and frozen vegetables, fish, chocolate confectionery, and nearly all dairy products; although meat sales dropped. An overview of processed foods, confectionery and bakery product trends in Germany is given, including consumption trends and forecasts for the future.
