Prudential PLC rejects Aviva bid as big insurance battles mount

Prudential PLC of the United Kingdom has turned down an unsolicited bid offering of 17 billion Pounds from rival Aviva PLC also of the United Kingodm. The insurance giants are in what could be a long running acquisition battle. Prudential PLC is valued at 17 billion Pounds, a 6.25 percent premium on the insurance companies market value.
