Public grief, private thoughts
Article Abstract:
Public-to-private buyouts are often perceived to be high risk investments for venture capitalists due to uncertainty over market reaction. The UK industry views these transactions as exceptions, rather than a future trend. Public firms are viewed as potential targets by venture capitalists because they are often underperforming with potential to improve. Buyouts can only be considered if shareholders are willing to part with a controling portion of shares.
