Quebec billboard wars attract all levels of government
Article Abstract:
The billboard war in Quebec has the federal, provincial and municipal governments battling each other over which has jurisdiction over the billboards and how to regulate billboard messages. Twenty-nine double- sided billboards would be installed on federally-owned sites near the Jacques Cartier and Champlain bridges. The city of Montreal says the billboards slated for its territory are not covered by any city permit. On the other hand, the city of Verdun says the billboards are too big and violate zoning rules.

Expos batting .250 in media game
Article Abstract:
Professional baseball club the Montreal Expos has signed a deal with Telemedia Radio-owned, French language radio station CKAC for undisclosed terms. The team has not been able to forge any television or English- language radio deals with hours to go before its opening-day game on Apr 3, 2000. The franchise has long complained about what it calls a television bias favoring the rival Toronto Blue Jays club. A media observer noted that it would be surprising if the Expos went on TV in 2000.
