RAYTHEON PLANS TO REJOIN GMDC's ALUMINA PROJECT
Article Abstract:
Raytheon Engineering and Constructions Limited (RECL) intends to rejoin the alumina project to be set up by Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC). The Rs2,500 crore alumina plant is expected to come up at Kutch and is likely to have a production capacity of 750,000 tonnes of alumina per annum. RECL has approached the officials from Gujarat firms and ministries involved in the project and had sought reconstitution of the project before it could participate in it. Under the new equity holding pattern of the project, Jeffery's of the US will have a majority stake of 49 percent, Ambassador Group of Industries (AIG) to pick up 39 percent while GMDC and Gujarat Alkalis and Chemicals Limited (GACL) will take up six percent stake each in the project. The capacity of the project will be 750,000 tonnes of alumina per year. (gs)

US TEAM TIES UP WITH PROGRID FOR INDUSTRIAL CITY
Article Abstract:
An infrastructure team of USA, comprising of eleven firms, has tied up with Progrid Developers of Chennai for establishing an industrial infrastructure city. The project may come up either in Hyderabad or Bangalore. AFS Industries (AFS) of Mumbai has been appointed as agents for the US consortium. AFS has submitted a project study to both the Karnataka and the Andhra Pradesh Governments. The project is expected to be completed in ten years and will involve a total capital investment of $1.4 billion. The initial capital to be invested in the project is $203 million. The new facility will have space for high-tech industries, software technology parks, general industrial processing zones and export promotion zones. (gs) (khr)
