Rittal Bir Pvt Ltd (RBP) which manufactures and exports containers plans to tap South-East Asian markets. RBP makes packaging material for industrial process controllers, electronic components and network nodes for data communications and telecommunications. Currently it exports containers to UAE, Singapore and China and plans to cover the entire South East Asia in the near future. RBP, which is a part of Rittal Werk Germany, intends to invest in building warehouses in Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta. (gs)

METAL BOX PAID Rs130 CR IN STAFF, GOVT DUES, CLARIFIES MD

The managing director of Metal Box, Mr Vinod Krishna, has clarified that the company has paid almost Rs130 crore both to workmen in terms of employee dues and PF settlements and to the exchequer. He refuted allegations that the company management mishandled funds. Metal Box has also clarified that the rehabilitation package, which envisaged selling of the company's property by the authorities, was unfeasible as the property was over-valued under pressure from the trade union. Procter & Gamble (India) (PGI) has offered a stock appreciation scheme called Future Shares to its 1,000 full time staff members. Under the scheme, each employee will get Stock Appreciation Rights (SARs) for 100 shares of Procter & Gamble Company of USA. The scheme has a five-year lock in period from May 15, 1998 and closes on May 15, 2003 AD. The appreciation in the value of the shares is estimated at $30,000 as on May 15, 2003 AD. (gs)
