Radio France seeks easing of ad rules: state-run stations want to air spots from private firms

Radio France Internationale is having difficulty maintaining its level of advertising revenue as more firms become privatized. A 1951 law prohibits Radio France from accepting ads from firms that are not state-owned. The broadcaster has petitioned the government to allow it to accept advertising from private companies; ads from alcoholic beverage and supermarket companies may continue to be prohibited.

Parmalat settles SEC lawsuit
Article Abstract:
The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that Parmalat Finanziaria SpA has agreed to settle securities charges against it. The bankrupt Italian dairy company had been charged with defrauding investors with a billion dollar debt offering.
