Railtrack will ask U.K. regulator to advance 1.55 billion euros payment

Railtrack PLC announced that it would ask the UK rail regulator to advance 1 billion pounds (1.55 billion euros) in public funds. Railtrack, which was hit with major bills for emergency repairs, is not scheduled to receive the funds until the 2006 year.

Railtrack reports deep pretax loss on costly repairs

Railtrack Group PLC posted a higher pretax loss for the year ending March 31, 2001. The company, due to costly repairs, posted 534 million pounds (884.2 million euros) in pretax losses for the year, compared to a 360 million pounds pretax profit in the 2000 fiscal year.
