The UK market for large kitchen appliances reached 2.03 billion pounds sterling in 1996, representing 8.6 million units. The strongest growth was experienced in the fridge-freezer sector, with sales up 26.6% by volume between 1992 and 1996. Sales of refrigerators during the period rose by almost 25%. Some 18.9% of the volume market is accounted for by Hotpoint, although Candy was the fastest growing brand. It is expected that sales of refrigeration appliances will grow by just over 18% between 1996 and 2001.
