Relational risks perception in European biotechnology alliances: the effect of contextual factors
Article Abstract:
Though there are benefits from the strategic alliances among firms, the relational risks from these strategic alliances are attributed to the asymmetric relation between the partners' behavior, absence of a governance structure on the alliance relationship, and the degree of the relational capital. The results of the study on partnerships of European biotechnology firms are examined.

An empirical investigation of the drivers of international strategic alliance formation
Article Abstract:
Data from a web-survey of Danish partner firms engaged in international strategic alliances is used to study the factors that drive alliance formation between two specific firms across national borders. Findings indicate that partner selection is a function of strategic motivation and varies significantly with governance mode and partner nationality.

Integrated versus core-periphery structures in regional biotechnology networks
Article Abstract:
A study examining the role of social (business) networks in biotechnology companies in Germany with respect to exchange of information and knowledge is presented. These high-tech networks can either be dense or sparse and peripheral.
