Rethinking corporate environmental management
Article Abstract:
Stakeholders are becoming increasingly critical of company environmental policies. Stakeholder satisfaction determines corporate success, hence, leading companies have made environmental concern an integral part of top-level management agenda. Stakeholder satisfaction requires the company to improve its pivotal work processes throughout. A survey has found that the methods by which companies manage their environmental affairs carry much weight in contributing to stakeholder satisfaction. It follows that companies have to take the initiative in innovations that protect the environment.

The corporation as nongovernment organization
Article Abstract:
Business is taking a more nongovernmental organization (NGO)-like approach in its involvement in environmental causes. The business sector has also adopted the NGO's proactive extra-system stance, and has collaborated with NGOs to promote environmental protection. Altruism may not be the only motivation for business to act like an NGO. Policies that originate from NGOs can adversely affect the functions of businesses. Hence, business must take an active role to maintain control over its future, protect its reputation and increase its market share and profits.
