Article Abstract:
Two recent issues of Urbanismo Revista cover the life and work of Ludovico Quaroni and Cornelis van Eesteren, city planners. Quaroni, architect and planner, was an important interpreter of experimentalism, and was deeply concerned with the urban form. Van Eesteren was associated with the De Stijl and Bauhaus groups, and was involved in the 1929 Amsterdam Extension Plan. He took a chair at Delft Technical University from 1947. Both Quaroni and van Eesteren died in the 1980s.

Technical knowledge, practical reason and the planner's responsibility
Article Abstract:
Planners should continue to develop their technical knowledge, even if managerial and political skills are used for a high proportion of the role. The planner is responsible for the technical application of their work, both socially and politically. This should not be overlooked in light of their other responsibilities, which involve societal conversation.
