Intergraph's new Zx1 workstation is constructed around standard components based on Intel's BX chipset. However, this will change with future Zx models. It is not available in a Xeon configuration. It offers an impressive range of graphics hardware, including the Intense3D Pro 2200S and the Wildcat 4105 and 4110 solutions. Overall, this is a fairly standard product, and is quite expensive at 7,000 pounds sterling.

Entomologist have succeeded in transforming the medfly, ceratitis capitata, with the transposable element Minos from Drosophilus. P-element mediated transformation had worked for Drosophila, but not on other insects. The breakthrough may prove valuable for controlling the agricultural pest.
