Revolt of the peasants
Article Abstract:
Peasant activists in China's Sichuan province rioted in May 1993 to protest tax increases and official corruption. Economic conditions in rural China are considerably worse than in urban areas, and rural residents on average earn only 35% of the typical urban worker's wage.
