Tourism is a growing industry in Liverpool, UK, employing up to 16,500 people in 1998. The Mersey Partnership was formed to promote interest and encourage investment in Liverpool's tourist attractions, such as sporting facilities and the connection with the Beatles pop group. Over 400 million pounds sterling worth of investment has been promised by Ford Motors to develop the Halewood car plant which will build the new Jaguar automobile. Up to 500 new jobs will be created by Abbey National with an investment of 11 million pounds sterling.

Motoring to success
Article Abstract:
The management buyout of United Kingdom motor services group Bristol Street Motors took nearly a year-and-a-half to negotiate and was finally announced on Mar 18, 1997. A history of the negotiations and difficulties encountered during business talks is given. The company was finally purchased for 84 million pounds sterling and was backed by investment lenders Legal & General Ventures. The management team contributed a total of 410,000 pounds sterling towards the final purchase price.
