Sweet biscuits: special report
Article Abstract:
Sales of sweet and savoury biscuits in the UK have continued to increased, mainly due to trading up by consumers to premium biscuits. The sweet biscuit sector is the larger sector, including all chocolate, iced and plain biscuits, with chocolate products accounting for 46% of the market by value in 1995. Many manufacturers are reducing fat in their biscuits as health concerns become an issue. The market is dominated by McVitie's, Fox's, Burton's and Jacob's Bakery, with McVitie's the leading manufacturer of sweet biscuits. Most biscuit sales are through multiple grocers, although garage forecourts are taking an increase share.

Revving up for success
Article Abstract:
The 144 million pounds sterling leveraged buyout of sport motorcycle producer Ducati required hard negotiating on terms and price, innovative solution finding and analysis. Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Capital Investment believed the buyer's consideration of the vendor's needs was a key issue in closing the transaction. The Cagiva Group decided to sell Ducati as part of its plans to facilitate future expansion and restructure group operations. Ducati has a top-rate brand name, while production costs are comparatively low and technological development is innovative.
