Roadshows under way for Panama's Intel
Article Abstract:
Panama is to begin a second attempt to sell a 49% share in Intel, the state owned telecoms company. Salomon Brothers is organising roadshows in the US and Asia, and there are hopes that Cable and Wireless of the UK and Singapore and Korean telecoms companies will pre-qualify. Intel is small compared with major Brazilian telecoms companies, with about 430,000 lines scheduled to be operational by the end of 1996. However it achieved net profit of $140 million in 1995.

Canada not sold on private finance
Article Abstract:
The New Brunswick government is planning a new highway going through the centre of the province and is negotiating with RBC Dominion Securities over various financing options. These could include private finance, although there has not been a break through project which integrates private financing with private construction and operation. The Toronto pearson Airport project was shortlived and the Ontario Highway 407 project was equally disappointing.

Manitoba Telephone offer
Article Abstract:

There has been a delay in Ontario over the decision on Ontario Hydro's future, and deregulation of the provincial electricity market.
