Roche earnings increased 15% during first half

Roche Holding Ltd. announced that it posted an improvement of 15% in its pro forma net income for the first-half of 1999. The company benefited from the offsetting of a major nonrecurring charge by one-time gains. Roche posted 2.87 billion Swiss francs (1.79 billion euros) in net income during the period. During the same period in 1998, the company posted 2.5 billion francs.
