Lucent warns quarterly profit will fall short

Lucent Technologies Inc. posted higher than expected earnings and revenue for its fiscal second quarter of 1999. The company was helped by accelerated sales growth internationally and by greater demand for its wireless systems. Lucent posted a 33% improvement in its quarterly revenues to $8.2 billion. During the same period in 1998, the company posted revenues of $6.18 billion.

Lucent exceeds profit estimates as sales surge

Lucent Technologies Inc. posted an improvement of 22% in its earnings for the second-quarter of 1999. Lucent's earnings were higher than expected.
