Bill Clinton commands a substantial lead over George Bush in the presidential election polls. After the publicity of the Democratic Convention wears off, this lead will drop off. Clinton and his advisors do not intend to repeat the pattern of the British Labor Party, which led the polls but lost anyway.

Although many experts consider Florida a Republican state, Clinton spent two days campaigning there, visiting 5 cities and making 11 speeches. Dole also visited, but only to attend one event for party activists and wealthy supporters.
