It's Hyett! Former AJ columnist clinches the RIBA presidency

In early 2001, former Architects' Journal columnist, Paul Hyett, was elected president of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Hyett, who defeated opponent Alex Reid by 62% to 37% in the second round of voting, will focus on continuity during his term in office.

Rock's latest role: David Rock, just elected as the next RIBA president, sees on of his main priorities as creating a 'presidency by assent'
Article Abstract:
David Rock has been elected as the next president of the RIBA. He aims to raise awareness of architectural issues by enlisting the help of 'design heroes' such as Sir Norman Foster and Nicholas Grimshaw. He is seeking stronger links with government departments and wants to address the issues of speculative work, low fees, rogue competitions, PFI and CCT. He is also keen to see a National Architecture Centre in London.
