Rule-based simulation metamodels
Article Abstract:
The use of rule-based simulation metamodels is advocated for manufacturing operation simulations and analysis. The metamodels are one abstraction level higher than actual simulation models and are easier to use since they present the manufacturing knowledge base rather than large tables of simulation scenarios and results. Operational uses of simulation include manufacturing system predictions, dynamic system behaviour modeling and 'what-if' scenario evaluations.
