Russia urges preparation for Gazprom's auction
Article Abstract:
Gazprom's auction is currently being prepared by Russia's State Property Ministry. The sale of the natural gas company has been repeatedly postponed because of the sharp decline of its stock price. However, because of President Borris Yeltsin's Nov. 2, 1998, decree to sell the company, the Russian cabinet has directed the State Property to prepare the procedure for the sale, in which up to 5% of Gazprom could be sold by the end of November 1998. Gazprom's stock is currently priced 1.9 rubles (12 cents), a 25% increase from 1.52 rubles per share.
