SAIL CHAIRMAN TO HARDSELL HIVE-OFF PLAN TO UNION
Article Abstract:
The chairman of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is trying to persuade the trade unions of three of its integrated steel plants to accept its proposal. SAIL proposes to spin off its captive power plants located at Bokaro, Rourkela and Durgapur into a subsidiary company which will be managed by a private operator. The chairman of SAIL is personally writing letters to each of the employees of the three steel plants. The letter will be circulated in the vernacular languages of the states where these plants are situated. The trade unions of these plants have opposed the proposal. SAIL has identified five parties who have envisaged interest in the joint venture proposal. (ag)(vr)

Sterling Holiday Resorts (India) Ltd has decided on changing its name to Sterling Vacations Ltd. It also plans to hive off its Noida golf course project into a separate company in order to attract investors. The company says that the new name will help in attracting global investors.
