ELGI FINANCE CONSIDERS THE SELL-OUT OPTION

Elgi Finance Ltd (EFL) is likely to consider the sell-out option to exit from its non banking finance company (NBFC). EFL has decided to pull out of all fee-based activities. It is unlikely to renew its registration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India. EFL incurred loss of Rs4.48 crore in the second half of 1997-98 (profit of Rs0.10 crore second half of 1996-97). Its operating income declined by 23 percent to Rs13.33 crore (RS17.38 crore). Total expenditure increased by 58 percent to Rs6.31 crore (Rs3.98 crore). (gsh)

ELGI EQUIPMENTS MAY CAP DIVIDEND AT 20% OF PAT

Elgi Equipments Ltd has decided on a new policy to limit dividend payout including applicable tax to 20 percent of the net profit. The company plans to seek approval of its shareholders for this new dividend structure at its coming annual general meeting. It has also decided to share more information on its operations with shareholders. The company will introduce single-cylinder high- speed diesel engines in September-October 1998. (khr)

ELGI EQUIPMENTS, ELF LUBRICANTS LAUNCH SPECIAL OIL

Elgi Equipments Ltd and Elf Lubricants Ltd have jointly launched a special oil for reciprocating air compressors. It will be retailed under the Elgi Airlube brand name and will be available in one and five litre packs. It has been developed and blended by Elf out of one of the world's best hydro-treated base stocks. The product will be marketed by both the companies through their extensive networks in India. (khr)
