Srinivasa Minerals and Traders of Chennai has won recognition for its exports of processed minerals like feldspar and silica rock to Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia and Indonesia. It has set up a joint venture milling project in Malaysia, which has been functioning effectively as there is a good demand for feldspar powder from television and glass manufacturers in Japan and Malaysia. The company is exploring new markets in the Middle East and will soon set up milling plants in Dubai and Indonesia. (khr)

JUMBO BAG's H1 NET PROFIT RISES BY 35%

Jumbo Bag Ltd of Chennai has posted 35 percent growth in net profit to Rs81.98 lakh in the first half of 1998-99 (Rs60.09 lakh in the first half of 1997-98). Its sales turnover increased to Rs7.10 crore (Rs6.27 crore). It has incurred interest charges of Rs65.89 lakh (Rs81.60 lakh). Provision for depreciation was at Rs27.12 lakh (Rs25.42 lakh) while provision for tax was at Rs4.07 lakh (Rs3.68 lakh). (gs)
