STMicroelectronics' net climbs 26%

STMicroelectronics NV announced that it posted an improvement of 26% in net income for the second-quarter of 1999. The company benefited from strong telecommunications and digital consumer product demand. STMicroelectronics posted $122.5 million (119 million euros) in net income for the quarter ending on July 3, 1999. During the same period in 1998, the company posted $97.5 million.
