Safety stock allocation in a two-echelon distribution system
Article Abstract:
An analytical approximation of the warehouse service time probability distribution problem was used to derive the optimal stocking system for a two-level arborescent inventory system subject to customer service constraints. It was shown that the development of an optimal system safety stock is greatly influenced by the probability distribution of the warehouse service time. The solution has also enabled the evaluation of the effects of varying depot order replenishment time components.

Forward-reserve allocation in a warehouse with unit-load replenishments
Article Abstract:
Determining the optimal forward-reserve allocation figures in a warehouse with unit-load replenishments may be done by the use of a binary programming model. The greedy knapsack heuristic is proven to be an effective tool in finding a feasible solution in the number of unit-loads to be stored with consideration to the time polynomial. Evaluation results show that the approach is much closer to the optimum level than the performance guarantee indicates.

A new approach for controlling a hybrid stochastic manufacturing/remanufacturing system with inventories and different lead times
Article Abstract:
Usage of stochastic models in combination with statistical techniques to formulate optimal control policies for stochastic recovery systems is discussed. Application of these policies in manufacturing workshops, with multiple stocking points and varying lead times for manufacture of different products, is described.
