The formation of coalitions
Article Abstract:
Cooperation between players and coalitions in multiperson games prior to the conduct of an activity with transferable utility is shown to result in an optimal organization represented by a binary tree. It is also shown that the dissolution of a coalition results in a loss by at least one of the subcoalitions and that the optimal structure is therefore indissoluble. Furthermore, a preference rule is established that a three-party coalition would most likely involve two coalitions instead of a simultaneous one.

Side-payment distribution and equilibrium coalition trees for indissoluble coalitions
Article Abstract:
A general rule for side-payment distributions in a multi-player cooperative game system with transferable utility is established. The rule can be used to determine the imputation for a particular coalition structure and it is shown that an equilibrium tree for such a situation exists. Techniques for determining such optimal grouping binary trees are presented. The method can be used to determine a bargaining theory that determines side-payment distributions.
