Article Abstract:
Much of the Asian economy depends on demand in the United States for information technology products, where some 60% of the value of new computer purchases are imported. Technology exports helped build economies in Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Across Asia, technology products account for about 36% of exports, and exports account for half of gross domestic product, demonstrating the profound effect that technology products can have on a nation's economy.
