Sanction threat prompts big firms to cut Iran ties

Alleged sanctions violations by large financial and energy companies in Iran have launched investigations by the United States Department of Justice. The investigations have sparked a withdrawal of Western businesses from Iran. The United States is trying to bring Iran before the United Nations Security Council because the Middle Eastern country is believed to be developing enriched uranium resources for possible nuclear capacity.

Saudi financier Yassin Qadi's donation of $1.25 mil to a Yemen Islamic school is being investigated as the school is run by an individual who is an alleged associate of Osama bin Laden, and had American Taliban John Walker Lindh as a student. Mr. Qadi's lawyers, however, have documentation that his funds went to school housing construction.
