Trawlers using plate ground gear
Article Abstract:
A new plate ground gear designed and developed by John Willy Valdemarsen, a researcher at Norwegian Institute of Marine Research is discussed. Other innovations of the institute, and those of Kurt Hansen at the Sintef flume tank of Denmark are also discussed. The trial results of installing these equipments on trawlers are mentioned.

Icelandic company Skaginn has innovated a new method of weighing and high-quality portioning. The system involves keeping the skin intact for each fillet during the process. It is being installed at Festir and is expected to start commercial operations later in the year.
