Article Abstract:
The US Dept of Agriculture has reported on the first year of its 'What We Eat in America' survey, covering 1994. Various changes and trends in consumption were identified, compared to a survey for 1977-1978. Meals away from home increased for children in 1994. All ages and both sexes show declining consumption of milk. While 3/4 of teenagers drank milk in the 1970s, only about half of them do now, whereas other drinks have higher consumption in 1994. Grains, fruit, vegetables and fat are also covered.
