Save the zoo
Article Abstract:
Zoos are not as popular as they once were with the public. Some animal activists attack them as cruel, but zoos provide the important service of preserving animals that would be extinct in the wild. Zoos also bring people in close contact with animals which enhances their appreciation of wildlife.

China purrs: tigers
Article Abstract:
The Chinese government's offer to attempt a ban on tiger hunting is good news to conservationists. Even though the population of tigers increased to 3,000 to 4,000 in the late 1980s from only about 2,000 in 1969, the numbers have begun to dwindle since then.
